RUSS Strip

Component - RUSS (Reinforced Universal Securement Strip) is used in single-ply roofing systems to secure the membrane at transitions like walls and corners while reducing stress on the membrane.

RUSS strips are a form of base attachment for roof membranes that secures them at roof-to-wall transitions, like parapet walls. Instead of puncturing the membrane with fasteners or relying on typical adhesives, the membrane is pushed taut to the RUSS at the transition to keep it secure.

The top half of a RUSS strip is mechanically fastened to the roof, while the bottom half is primed so the membrane can stick without fastening. Most building owners only encounter the term RUSS when discussing manufacturer specifications in replacement proposals.

The most important function of RUSS strips is to prevent bridging. Bridging creates tension in the membrane that can lead to premature failure at one of the most common leak sources: the roof’s perimeter.
