This serves as the introduction to a series of articles and guides put together for owners and property managers of buildings with flat roofs (“low slope). We have collected our own team’s experience and recommendations for flat roofing systems with the intent to share best practices on installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement projects. In an effort to develop the highest skilled commercial roofing team in our industry, this collection began as an internal knowledge base and professional training curriculum by compiling team findings, customer feedback, warranty data, installation tips, decision protocols, and management checklists. However, we have decided to share our findings with the public in this web series in order to best arm building owners with the resources to make informed decisions for each unique situation and to raise the quality standards of our industry as a whole.
“Flat” roofing isn’t always (and shouldn’t be) perfectly flat. Within the roofing industry, you will interchangeably hear the terms “flat” and “low-slope” roofing, or sometimes “commercial” roofing. We generally consider it “flat” if the slope is below 2/12 pitch. Many properties have both sections of flat and steep slope roofs. While all the links below in this series are focused on flat roofing, we also do steep-slope roofing for both commercial and residential customers. More information is available within the rest of our Learning Center or in the Steep Slope/Residential Materials Series.
Rhoden Roofing serves commercial roofing projects across the lower Midwest: specifically Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. With almost 20 years in business and a growing commercial projects team of 25 people, this Learning Center collection on commercial roofing collectively represents hundreds of years of combined field and project management experience. We continue to expand this resource – an effort which recognizes that there are always opportunities to learn, share, grow, and get just a little bit better every day. From the Rhoden Roofing team, we sincerely hope it will help you make informed decisions for the longevity of your roofing system.
