How NDL Warranties Work
Unlike most roof warranties, an NDL warranty is not simply issued when a project is complete. The system must first be installed by a contractor approved by the manufacturer, and the roof must be installed to meet the manufacturer’s specifications.
Because the manufacturer accepts responsibility for covered leaks, it often influences decisions made by the contractor during the estimating phase, like membraneMaterial - A single-ply membrane is a roof covering that uses one continuous layer of material to waterproof low-slope roofs. More thickness, fastening methods, and flashing details. These choices directly affect the warranty term. For example, an 80-mil TPOMaterial - TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) is a white roof covering used on flat (low slope) roofs, commonly installed on commercial buildings to create a continuous waterproof surface. More membrane fully adhered to a concrete deck may have longer warranty coverage than a 45-mil TPO membrane mechanically fastened to a wood deck.
In most cases, the manufacturer inspects the completed roof before issuing the NDL warranty.
Once issued, the warranty covers qualifying leaks caused by manufacturing defects or installation errors within the roof systemRoof Types - A roof system (roof assembly) is the entire series of roofing layers and components above the roof deck that work together to weatherproof the building. More. “No Dollar Limit” means that covered repairs do not have a maximum payout amount.
